Newspapers: Your best contact, and the one with whom you most want to most develop rapport, is the banking and finance reporter (at larger newspapers) or business editor (at smaller papers). Another approach is to review the paper regularly and note coverage by a particular reporter who covers consumer finance or community affairs and speak with that reporter.
Radio: For news/talk stations, ask for the news director or producer. Or, if your story has a more community appeal, ask to speak with the community affairs director.
Television: Ask to speak with the news director, morning or talk show producer, or the weekend news producer. For coverage of events, speak with the assignment editor.
